Scrap we buy
Aluminium scrap
We buy aluminium scrap at Faridnagar. A load is sorted into the kinds below, then weighed in the open. The rate follows the kind.

Catalogue
How a load is sorted
The yard names the kind from the form of the metal and from what is still attached. Paint, iron, oil and plastic are named before a rate. A mixed load is priced only after it is seen.

Clean extrusion
Window, door and section offcuts with a bare mill finish. No steel screws, no rubber, no plastic thermal break. This is the clean wrought scrap in a typical load.

Coated extrusion and sheet
The same profiles and sheet, with powder coat, anodising or paint. The metal is still aluminium. The coating is named because it has to come off in the melt.

Sheet, plate and utensils
Flat sheet, roofing, cladding, and aluminium pots and pans. Bare sheet is kept apart from painted sheet, and both are kept apart from castings.

Castings
Engine housings, pump bodies and other rough grey cast parts. Cast aluminium carries more silicon than a window section, so it is not piled with extrusion.

Wheels
Alloy car and truck wheels. A clean wheel has had the tyre, the steel valve and the balance weights taken off.

Beverage cans
Used drink cans, light and usually printed or lacquered. A bale of cans is its own kind. It is not tipped into the sheet pile.

Wire and cable
Aluminium conductor from power cable. The metal is silver-grey, not copper-coloured. Stripped wire and wire still in its insulation are two lots. The plastic is not aluminium.

Turnings
Curly chips from a lathe or a drill. Oil and iron fines are common, so this kind is looked at before it is accepted.
A mixed lot is priced after we see it. The weight is taken in front of you at the yard in Faridnagar.
